My decision to run grew directly out of the experience of leading our public schools over the past several years.
As Chair of the Westport Board of Education, I’ve had the responsibility of guiding long-term planning, shaping our strategic direction, working through complex budgets and capital investments, and making decisions that have both immediate and lasting impact on students and our community.
That kind of hands-on leadership has made a few things very clear to me:
We need to keep our public schools strong and stable, so families can count on them without disruption;
We need to make Connecticut more affordable, and that means ensuring state decisions don’t quietly shift costs onto towns and taxpayers; and
We need someone in Hartford who’s already done this work - building the relationships to make progress possible, and then doing the hard, focused work to actually deliver. Not just speaking up for Westport, but getting results.
I’m also running because this moment demands it. Actions in Washington are putting at risk our funding, safety, fundamental rights, and the democratic norms we depend on. I’ve already been tested by the kinds of pressure that are reaching our schools and communities, and I know how to hold the line on what matters while earning trust across differences.
I’m ready to take that experience – and a principled, practical, and collaborativeapproach – and put it to work representing Westport.
My husband, Charlie, and I have lived in Westport since 2013 and am the proud mother of two Staples
graduates. A Yale graduate and former teacher, I serve as Chair of the Westport Board of Education and volunteer as a writing tutor at Mercy Learning Center. As a member of Westport’s Arts Advisory Committee, I helped secure $250,000 in federal ARPA funding for local nonprofit arts organizations.
Earlier in my career, I spent years in frontline public service, investigating child
abuse and sexual assault in New York City, and later volunteering as a counselor for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. That experience continues to shape my commitment to public service.
